Flintshire develops pre-driver programme

16.13 | 3 July 2009 |

A pre-driver education programme developed by Flintshire’s road safety unit is initially being offered to Year 12 pupils but will be extended to all local college students of driving age.

The programme will look at driver behaviour and attitude together with issues relating to aggressive driving and speed, wearing seat belts, overloading, drink/drug driving and mobile phone use. It also highlights in-car safety and the consequences of road collisions as a result of carrying passengers.

Councillor Tony Sharps said: “This project offers youngsters an excellent opportunity to participate in driving situations that they will come across when they are learning to drive and after they’ve passed their test."
