The London Borough of Bexley produced a range of new materials for the 2009 Walk to School campaign.
Primary pupils were provided with a ‘passport for health’ and encouraged to complete a different task each day to receive a stamp on their passport during Walk to School Week (18-22 May). The aim was to fill the passport with healthy activities each day.
Curriculum resource packs were also distributed to schools. The pack comprised a CD of lesson ideas and worksheets with clear links to the primary curriculum, the Healthy Schools initiative and the Every Child Matters agenda.
Students in years 5 and above were encouraged to take part in a competition to write an article, poem or rap explaining who they would most like to walk to school with. The winners will have their entry recorded by London radio station, Kiss100 for a podcast.
