The third of our four live GRSW online forums focused on children and in-car safety, including child car seats and generated 19 questions from anxious parents.
Three experts – Kat Furlong (Good Egg Safety), Julie Dagnall (Child Seat Safety) and Anjila Clark (West Sussex CC) – were on hand to answer questions during the live session which took place today, Thursday 7 May 12.00-13.00.
The hot topic during the forum was child car seats, in particular questions about i-Size and forward/rear facing child seats.
All of the forums are free of charge and open to everyone including parents, teachers and road safety professionals, both here in the UK and other parts of the world.
Road Safety GB has produced a simple guide giving advice about teaching children how to travel safely in a car. The guide is available free of charge and covers issues including the importance of wearing a seat belt and using a car seat, and not distracting the driver or fiddling with the controls.
The final forum of the week will be held tomorrow (Friday 8 May, 12.00 – 13.00) and will focus on children as pedestrians.

Other resources produced in the UK in support of Global Road Safety Week are:
• A suite of road safety resources for children – including activity sheets, maps and country profilers – which are available free to download.
• A series of simple ‘how to’ guides to help educators and others teach basic road safety to children.
• A database of road safety professionals with expertise with regard to child road safety, who are willing to provide advice and support to people in other parts of the world.
