Jenson Button talks to RoSPA about safety

Formula 1 star Jenson Button has taken time out of his world championship campaign to talk to RoSPA about road safety.

Jenson said: "People always go on about speed as being a big cause of accidents. But the big thing I notice on the roads is that people are just not aware of their surroundings.

"I am always aware. I am sure that comes from F1 – I am always aware of people to the left and right, and where they are moving around. People do need to be aware of what is going on around them."

Jenson described himself as a ‘pretty good’ road driver but ‘the worst passenger ever – a terrible back-seat driver!’

He also revealed that he failed his first driving test because of a ‘dangerous manoeuvre’, but was successful on his second attempt.
