Lifting the lid on how to involve road users to improve their own safety

12.00 | 21 June 2016 |

The 2016 National Road Safety Conference will include a case study outlining how a road user group was encouraged to become involved in the development of a product and campaign to improve their own safety.

The presentation, ‘Empowering The Customer: engaging customers to mould user centric campaigns’, will be delivered by Andrew Richardson and Tori Brown from Realsafe Technologies.

Realsafe Technologies’ focus is on developing safety-based technology connected to the Emergency Services.

In 2013, Realsafe launched REALRIDER®, a motorcycle app developed to keep riders safe and connected with built in crash detection technology. It is the first app in the UK to be 999 certified, linking its users directly to the nearest ambulance in the event of a crash.

The presentation will discuss how Realsafe involved the biking community and other stakeholders to create REALRIDER® – through concept research and development, product design and testing and the market launch.

The co-presenters will also offer ideas and suggestions about how to continue with engagement and growth post-launch.

Andrew Richardson, the co-founder and chief commercial officer at Realsafe Technologies, has more than 10 years’ experience in delivering innovative, online and mobile solutions for the safety of all road users, primarily motorcyclists. He was an integral part of the team that produced REALRIDER®.

Tori Brown, Realsafe’s chief communications and marketing officer, has more than 10 years’ experience in strategic communications and marketing, specialising in the consumer and technology sectors.

At Realsafe Technologies, Tori’s role is to ensure creative strategy aligns with commercial objectives, maximising opportunities to promote both corporate brand and consumer products within the digital space, with a key emphasis on social marketing, user-led content generation and community engagement.
