The London Road Safety Council is running a two-day training session to help road safety professionals apply Makaton to their work in road safety or travel planning.

Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is the UK’s leading language programme for adults and children with learning or communication difficulties.

The Makaton Foundation Workshop provides a detailed insight into the use and application of Makaton to road safety and/or travel planning.

The workshop offers a practical approach, combining theory and technical information, and covering sign and symbol use, symbol design themes, the use and purpose of Makaton and an overview of alternative systems of communication.

The workshop will be held on 6-7 July 2015 at Hounslow Civic Centre, and the course fee is £250. It will be delivered by Teresa Cutmore from The Makaton Charity.

For more information or to book a place contact James Parker at the London Road Safety Council.
