Jenny Wynn, joint chairman of the TTC Group, is one of 13 “unsung heroes” to receive an award from the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers (AIRSO*).

Tim Stevenson, lord lieutenant of Oxfordshire, presented the award to Jenny Wynn as part of AIRSO’s 50th anniversary celebrations at the group’s Annual General Meeting in Oxford.

Jenny Wynn helped to write the drink drive rehabilitation scheme course which was introduced by the Government in 1999 to provide alcohol awareness training across the UK for convicted drink drivers. The TTC Group took part in a six-year trial of the scheme which it is claimed reduced re-offending by more than half.

Graham Feest, AIRSO secretary, said his organisation wanted to recognise the “unsung heroes” who had worked tirelessly for road safety.

Jenny Wynn, who with husband Graham founded the TTC Group, said: “I am very proud to have been at the forefront of introducing the first courses.

“People are now well aware of the dangers of drink driving; those who transgress do receive excellent education which is successful in reducing re-offending rates.”

Three further members of the TTC Group were also honoured by AIRSO, including Colin Pettener MBE who, with more than 40 years’ experience in road safety, has become an honorary life member.

*FOOTNOTE:
AIRSO represents those who are in any way connected with the promotion and delivery of road safety education and training, road safety engineering, scientific research into casualty reduction and injury mitigation, and the enforcement of traffic law.

A friend of my son was caught just over the BAC limit some years ago. After attending the drink-drive rehabilitation course, his car insurance was cheaper than before he was convicted/banned.
