National conference heads for sell-out success

130 people have already registered to attend Road Safety GB’s 2011 National Conference and the event is well on the way to being a sell-out success, as has been the case for the past two years.

The conference, which is being hosted by Road Safety GB North West Region, is being held at The Queen Hotel in Chester, 15-16 November 2011. The event, which already has two world-class sponsors* in Colas and Siemens, is limited to around 200 delegates, the same number that attended in 2010. The number of delegates registered to attend is significantly higher than at the same time last year.

The exhibition, which runs alongside the conference, is also proving popular, with 13 of the 20 available pitches already snapped up. For the past two years this too has been fully subscribed. Click here for more information about the exhibition – prices start at just £395 plus VAT.

A ‘Question Time’ session on the subject of speed promises to be one of the highlights of the conference. Delegates will be invited to submit questions in advance to prompt debate about speed and road safety.

The session will be chaired by Robert Gifford, director of PACTS, and confirmed panellists are: Malcolm Heymer, Association of British Drivers’ spokesperson on speed limits; Professor Richard Allsop, author of a report into the effectiveness of safety cameras; Adrian Walsh, director of Roadsafe; and John Smart, director of CIHT. The DfT has also accepted the invitation but has yet to name its representative, and an invitation has also been extended to ACPO.

The residential delegate fee for Road Safety GB members is £250 plus VAT, and for non-members £295 plus VAT. This covers all conference sessions, refreshments, accommodation and the conference dinner on the evening of 15 November. Day delegate fees start at just £50 for Road Safety GB members.
