TSO has launched new editions of its police handbooks for driver and rider training.
Guided by a working group of experienced instructors, Roadcraft and Motorcycle Roadcraft are essential training tools for police officers preparing for the demands of operational driving and riding.
Key features include:
- New advanced driver and rider assistance systems chapters (ADAS/ARAS) – describe common assistance features and explore how technology can support safer driving and riding.
- Practical guidance – learning how reflective practice helps improve driving and riding skills with step-by-step advice.
- Illustrated for clarity – packed with detailed diagrams that demonstrate key concepts including observation links, overtaking, positioning and limit points.
Both titles are also available as e-learning courses that combine the benefits of the handbooks with knowledge checks and an e-certificate of completion.
Deputy chief constable Terry Woods, NPCC Lead Police Driving said “The skills and standards of police drivers are extensively used and tested daily, demonstrating the value of quality training.
“I am confident that the experience and qualifications of our trainers using the curriculum supplied by the College of Policing, and supported by Roadcraft, will continue to enable police officers and emergency response drivers to meet the challenges they face.”
