Over sixties step up a gear!

16.18 | 3 July 2009 |

Drivers over the age of 60 participated in an informal event by Manchester Road Safety to boost road safety for older motorists.

The session included presentations by the IAM and DSA to encourage drivers to consider brushing up their skills and take account of today’s driving styles. By the end nearly half of those who attended enrolled to take a free refresher skills course by the IAM.

Cllr Richard Cowell said: “It is a chance for older drivers to renew their confidence on the roads in a supportive and friendly environment. The aim is to give the best possible help so that drivers who have been having problems can return to the roads without fear.”

The event will be repeated several times at different locations across the city during 2009.
