A campaign by the Grimsby Telegraph to name and shame drink-drivers has been hailed a success by police for ‘seriously impacting’ on motorists.
The campaign was first launched at Christmas 2004 and was later extended to include several weeks every summer.
North East Lincolnshire officer Pc John Mallett praised the Telegraph for featuring 23 drink-drivers since the campaign launch, with more to follow.
He said: "I want to thank the Telegraph for their continuous support in reducing the number of drink-drivers.
"The name and shame campaign combined with our enforcement and education has seriously impacted on most drivers.”
