Prince Michael launches new awards to support Decade of Action

A new group of international awards will be presented by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, to recognise achievements in direct support of the objectives of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety.

A special Decade of Action award will also be nominated by the Commission for Global Road Safety in recommendation of outstanding commitment to the Decade.

Launched in May 2011, the Decade of Action provides a framework for countries and communities to focus on saving lives on the world’s roads.

The new awards, sponsored by The FIA Foundation, will be presented at various events around the world, with the special ‘Decade Award’ presented by the Prince an annual major event to be held in a different country each year. The first award will be presented in New York in May 2012.

Nominations are welcome from all organisations committed to the Decade of Action and should be submitted by 1 March 2012.
