Project EDWARD publishes initial plan and programme of activity for 2024

An initial 12-month plan and activity programme has been published by Project EDWARD, as the organisation evolves to a genuine ‘Every Day’ initiative.

Members of the EDWARD team decided earlier in February to replace the annual week of action with a strategically-planned year-round programme of activity, guided by this year’s theme – Data-driven actions for safe mobility.

The programme will involve Project EDWARD working with key partners to facilitate events, symposiums, webinars, discussions, podcast episodes and online activity, with the specific aim of sharing examples of evidence-led good practice that supports the Safe System.

Specific details of each event will be published as soon as they are confirmed.

James Luckhurst, Project EDWARD founder, said: “We are very grateful for the universal support we have received since announcing this plan, particularly from the leading organisations whose generous sponsorship allows us to carry out our work.

“We are seeking great examples of replicable activity across different sectors and at many levels: national, regional, city, county and local.

“We will also play our part in investigating and disseminating the outcomes and achievements from recent Prince Michael International Road Safety Award winners, Road Safety Trust programmes and other specific initiatives.

“One key area of focus will be on work-related road safety, where we have already lined up some exciting content for the coming months.

“There is plenty of scope to expand and develop the programme, which is designed to support, celebrate and disseminate the great work being done in road safety.

“We are keen to hear from anyone willing to share examples of what has worked – and equally important – what has not worked. Please get in contact and we can start a conversation.”

The first draft calendar of activity comprises events, sponsor activity, themes, webinars, newsletters and podcast episodes (Click here to view the draft, details of which are subject to change). All of this will be supported by energetic online and social media announcements, as well as updates on the Project EDWARD website.

Project EDWARD’s Parliamentary reception, which was significantly oversubscribed in 2023, is scheduled for 9 December. An allocation of tickets for this event will be made available via a ballot, which is expected to open in mid September.
