Nominations are invited for the new Road Safety GB Awards, which replace the Lynda Chalker Award which was first presented in 1986.

For 2022, there are two new Road Safety GB Award categories, as follows:

The Road Safety GB Achievement Award
This award recognises an individual who has contributed significantly to road safety in the United Kingdom over a substantial period of time.

The Road Safety GB Corporate Award
This award recognises the achievements of a Road Safety GB corporate member and acknowledges their commitment and contribution to road safety.

Both awards will be presented at the National Road Safety Conference in Harrogate on the afternoon of 9 November 2022.

James Gibson, executive director of Road Safety GB, said: “The new Road Safety GB Awards provide an annual opportunity to recognise outstanding contributions to road safety.

“Nominations for the Achievement Award must be made by a third party, and supported by two other individuals.

“Road Safety GB corporate members are invited to self-nominate for the Corporate Award.”

The deadline for nominations is 12.00 on Thursday 6 October 2022. Full details of how to nominate are outlined in the Awards’ nomination form.

*The Lynda Chalker Awards came about when Lynda Chalker (now Baroness Chalker of Wallasey), who was transport minister in the mid-1980s, presented LARSOA (now Road Safety GB) with a carriage clock to be used for an Award. The Lynda Chalker Award was first presented in 1986 and in total since then there have been 35 awards to individuals and organisations.
