The Road Safety GB Twitter account has reached the milestone of 12,000 followers, further confirming its status as one of the leading sources of road safety output on social media across the UK.
Launched in February 2010, the account reached 11,000 followers during the National Road Safety Conference in November 2015. Since then it has picked up an average of 10 followers per day and has now passed the 12k mark.
Iain Temperton, Road Safety GB’s director of communications, said: “Road Safety GB’s Twitter feed continues to evolve and we consider it to be an essential part of our communications strategy.
“Whether it be responding to questions or comments, sharing best practice, or signposting a wider audience to our newsfeed, the excellent work undertaken by Matt Staton and Edward Seaman is of great benefit to Road Safety GB and our members.
“Our next target is to be the primary source of road safety output on social media in the UK. We will let you know when that’s achieved.”
Another Road Safety GB initiative, the Road Safety Knowledge Centre, also saw record traffic levels in January 2016.
The Knowledge Centre, an online library of road safety research, reports and initiatives, received 3,316 visits from 2,607 visitors in January 2016 – beating the previous highs of 2,892 visits and 2,217 visitors, achieved in April 2015.
