A group of Year 6 pupils in Medway have taken part in an initiative to encourage them to cycle to their new school in September.

Around 15 pupils from Fairview Community Primary School in Rainham cycled to Rainham School for Girls and The Howard School recently.

The event involved pairs of Medway Council’s Bikeability instructors snaking three groups of pupils from the primary school to the secondary schools, which share a common site. The routes were identified and assessed by one of the council’s safer journeys officers.

Cllr Phil Filmer said: “By showing them the safest route, our Bikeability instructors have given the pupils the confidence to consider this as a viable way to travel to school at the start of the new academic term.”
