Schools from the UK are being offered the chance to receive pan-European recognition by entering a competition that rewards road safety educational initiatives.
The ERSCharter* Education in Road Safety Challenge will reward the most sustainable road safety educational activities developed by participating schools. Entrants will be judged on five categories: sustainability, creativity, impact, participation and replication.
Any road safety activities (traditional or innovative) can be entered including organising a campaign, putting on a play, or creating an activity, presentation or event. The activity must be carried out for at least the 2015-16 academic year and may include projects started before that date.
The winning projects – selected from two age categories, ‘infants & children’ and ‘pre-teens & adolescents’ – will be invited to Brussels in March 2016 to attend the award ceremony.

*The European Road Safety Charter was established in 2004 by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Transport, with the goal of making road safety a priority through projects that promote responsible and safe conduct on streets and motorways.
Through the active support and commitment of more than 2,300 private and public entities, the ERS Charter’s community is working to reduce road collisions, a major cause of injuries and fatalities, especially among young people.
