A new campaign encouraging drivers to wear their seat belts has been launched in South Yorkshire.

The ‘Save Yourself’ campaign, run by the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, advises drivers to ‘Save Yourself – Stay alive, always wear your seat belt’. The campaign is running on bus backs, local radio and Facebook.

Chief inspector Stuart Walne, head of roads policing for South Yorkshire Police, said: “The number of people who are killed because they are not wearing a seat belt is unacceptable. Our campaign highlights that it is everyone’s responsibility to consider their own safety and wear a seat belt."
