Andrew Miller, chief technical officer of Thatcham Research, is the new president and chairman of Euro NCAP.

Established in 1997, Euro NCAP organizes crash-tests and provides motoring consumers with a "realistic and independent assessment" of the safety performance of some of Europe’s most popular cars. It comprises seven European Governments as well as motoring and consumer organisations in every European country.

Andrew Miller succeeds professor Andre Seeck from the German Federal Highway Research Institute, and will serve as president and chairman for the next two years. He is an automotive engineer with 30 years’ experience in vehicle design and development and has served as a member of Euro NCAP Board of Directors since 2004.

He will take up this non-executive position with Euro NCAP in addition to his current role with Thatcham Research. He is also on the Steering Committee of RCAR, the International Group of Insurance Automotive Research Centres, and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and of the Institute of Directors.

Andrew Miller said: “Vehicle safety has undergone significant progress during recent years and the years to come will involve great changes to take account of the newest and essential technology on offer.

“I look forward to supporting Euro NCAP’s initiatives and role in Europe to supply consumers with precise safety information and safer vehicles.”
