Walking around the world for safety

13.04 | 11 October 2010 |

Millions of children around the world are walking to school during October, as part of International Walk to School Month.

International Walk to School Month encourages children to walk to school to improve their road safety awareness and health. It also aims to highlight concerns for the environment and develop a sense of community and physical activity among children.

The event, which has been running since 2000, encourages communities to pick a day, a week or even the entire month to draw attention to these issues.
