Webinar series to look at ‘Technology for the Safe System’

11.25 | 11 April 2022 |

RoadSafe is launching a series of webinars looking to investigate the role that connected technology can play in delivering enhanced safety to road users.

Hosted by professor Nick Reed, the six-part series will start in May and run throughout 2022.

Explored through the lens of the Safe System, each session will focus on how the emergence of advanced communications and data connectivity and vehicle safety technologies are shaping a safer future in which transport systems, vehicles, road users, infrastructure and emergency response interact for better outcomes.

The series aims to lift the lid on technologies that ‘sometimes appear to be shrouded in mystery, described as black boxes or referred to with confusing acronyms’.

Expert panels will be gathered at test facilities and communications centres around the country to take attendees behind the scenes and discuss the applications of these technologies for enhancing safety.

The first webinar, ‘Connected Safety & Safe Road Infrastructure’, takes place on 16 May (2pm) – while the second, ‘Connected Safety & Post Crash Care’, follows on 30 May (2pm).

Future sessions will continue the Safe System theme by looking at:

  • Connected Safety & Safe Vehicles
  • Connected Safety & Safe Speed
  • Connected Safety & Safe Road Use
  • Connected Safety, Multimodal Transport & Land Use Planning
