Pupils at Georgetown Primary School in Gwent took to the road for the first time as part of their National Standards cycle training.
The National Standards Cycle Course, arranged by Maria Barsi Mills, Blaenau Gwent’s RSO, was delivered by instructors from Cycle Training Wales.
Instead of training in the school yard as in previous years, the pupils cycled on the roads outside their school. The course is designed to give children confidence on their bikes and teach them about observation, safe road positioning and signalling. It also introduced them to cycling as an everyday fun activity and an alternative mode of transport.
