Academics carrying out research and publishing reports on road safety and related topics are being encouraged submit their work for inclusion in the Road Safety Knowledge Centre.
Owned and managed by Road Safety GB, the Knowledge Centre is a web-based library of road safety related information and expertise, primarily from UK-based organisations. Information within the Knowledge Centre is available free of charge to anyone.
The Knowledge Centre is a well-used resource. It currently has more than 2,200 subscribers who receive the weekly alert which goes out every Thursday morning, and just under 1,000 registered users for the Knowledge Centre Help Forum. In Q3 2022, the site received just under 8,000 visits, primarily from road safety professionals here in the UK and further afield.
The project team searches for suitable material to be referenced in the Knowledge Centre, and so far this year more than 50 items have been added.
However, the team believes there is more road safety related academic work which could be included – and is encouraging anyone with research that may be suitable to contact the Knowledge Centre project manager, Nick Rawlings by email.
The Knowledge Centre was developed by Road Safety GB with funding provided by the Department for Transport. It was launched in 2010 as the successor to the Road Safety Time Bank.
