This May, Redditch will play host to a powerful and moving display that invites everyone to pause, reflect, and remember those killed on the roads.
From 12th to 27th May 2025, a unique installation of peace doves will land at Arrow Valley Country Park, bringing with them stories of love, loss, and hope.
The display is part of RoadPeace’s ‘Peace in the Park’ campaign. It is a collaboration between RoadPeace West Midlands and West Mercia Groups, Birmingham Youth Justice Service, CFG Law, Birmingham Cathedral, and St. Martin in the Bull Ring.
RoadPeace says what makes this installation so special is not just its message of peace, but the people behind it. It notes that the doves were shaped through grief, through heartbreak, and through the shared hope that one day, no families will have to suffer such loss.
Lucy Harrison from RoadPeace said: “Families bereaved through road crashes and young people involved in driving-related crime came together in a deeply moving collaboration to create our doves. They highlight the unacceptable toll of road death, and remind everyone that victims are more than statistics.
“For our West Midlands and West Mercia Groups, it is very special to see the doves travelling to different locations – spreading the message that road crime is real crime right across the region. Redditch is my home town, so it is especially poignant for me – but also for our group members whose loved ones were killed on roads in Worcestershire.”
The installation was launched at the start of RoadPeace’s annual challenge week.
The fundraising week of action takes place in May during UN Global Road Safety Week. Now in its fifth year, the event has already raised £160,000 for RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, as well as considerable public awareness around road harm.
