Lilian Greenwood to deliver keynote address at Mature Drivers’ Conference

Road Safety GB is delighted to announce that Lilian Greenwood, minister for local transport, will officially open next month’s Mature Drivers’ Conference, delivering a keynote address to attendees.

The conference – hosted by Road Safety GB and supported by GEM Motoring Assist, The Road Safety Trust & Waymo – is being held at Austin Court in Birmingham on 28 April 2026.

It will bring together road safety professionals and others committed to supporting mature drivers to maintain their independence while at the same time enhancing their safety.

A strong attendance is anticipated, with more than 100 people already registered to attend.

Lilian Greenwood was first appointed future of roads minister in July 2024, having previously served as chair of the Transport Committee between 2017-19.

In November 2024, Ms Greenwood became the first minister to deliver an in-person presentation at the National Road Safety Conference.

In her time at the DfT, Ms Greenwood has been involved in the development of the Road Safety Strategy, published in January 2026, which is expected to be the focus of Ms Greenwood’s presentation.

A small tabletop exhibition will run alongside the conference. Exhibitors currently include: Waymo, GEM Motoring Assist, The Road Safety Trust, Hugh James, BLT Driver Training and IAM RoadSmart.
