The head of training at the Road Safety GB Academy has invited road safety officers to put themselves forward to become a training development officer for the Academy.

The Road Safety GB Academy is the professional development arm of Road Safety GB. Complimentary membership of The Academy is offered to road safety practitioners employed by local authority members of Road Safety GB – up to a maximum of 10 places per authority. Applications are also welcomed from practitioners working in the private and voluntary sector. The annual cost of membership for these practitioners is £35.

Cheryl Evans, head of training at he Academy, said: “Training development officers (TDOs) are an integral part of the Academy. They represent and link local authority road safety practitioners to the training opportunities within the Academy.

“We are seeking to appoint TDOs in each Road Safety GB region and already have them in place in the South East, East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humberside and London Regions.

“We are now seeking to appoint them in the Eastern, Mercia, North East, North West and South West Regions, as well as in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.”

TDOs are part of the Academy’s Training Group whose remit is to identify the training needs of Academy members and provide guidance on academic, vocational, accredited, alternative qualifications and training. The Training Group is also responsible for developing and implementing a Road Safety Practitioners’ Standard.
