800 Wokingham children to benefit from Bikeability training

Wokingham Borough Council has been awarded a grant from the DfT which will enable up to 800 children to receive Bikeability training in 2012/2013.

Children across the borough will benefit from cycle training courses organised by the council’s road safety team and delivered by instructors from Cycle Experience. The training takes place largely on local roads, with both children and instructors on bikes.

Jill Bissell, Wokingham’s cycle training coordinator, said: “Bikeability training helps children cycle more safely on the roads by improving their cycling skills, behaviour and hazard awareness. Children also have fun on the course and it is great exercise for them.

“I am delighted that we have received this grant which will enable us to offer high quality cycle training to a large number of children at Wokingham Borough schools.”
