Academy unveils courses for Q2

The Road Safety GB Academy has unveiled its calendar of training courses for the second quarter of 2022.

Established in 2013, the RSGB Academy is the professional development arm of Road Safety GB. The Academy helps road safety practitioners enhance their skills in order to deliver effective, evidence-led road safety interventions.

All of the courses offered in the Academy’s April-June 2022 programme are being delivered in a Zoom virtual classroom, meaning candidates can participate from the convenience of their home or office.

The courses for which places are now available are as follows:

13-14 April 2022 (part 1) & 10-11 May 2022 (part 2)
Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course
The Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course aims to provide participants with an overview of the knowledge and skills they need to effectively and safely deliver a road safety educational intervention.

Behavioural Change Course for Highways Engineers (Ref: BCCEng9)
This course is essential CPD learning for civil highway engineers, urban planners and other related disciplines around the development of infrastructure that will impact on the safety of road users. It will provide them with a wider understanding of the relationship between the built environment and the ‘road user’, enabling them to explore, design and implement infrastructure that will take into account the limitations of the ‘human’ in the system.

This course has been designed to give practitioners who are new to road safety delivery the knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to deliver simple but effective road safety interventions.

Designing Effective Messaging (Ref: DEM6)
The course aims to help develop a road safety practitioner’s ability to design an effective road safety message. It covers a wide spectrum of topics around effective messaging and will enhance skills and confidence in design and delivery.

Behavioural Change Course (Ref: 2DBC7)
This two-day course covers: understanding road user behaviour; behavioural models; behavioural change techniques; behavioural insights; mapping behaviours; and developing interventions using behavioural models and change techniques.
