Transport for Buckinghamshire has launched a new road safety resource aimed at pre-school and nursery aged children.

‘First Steps’ is a pedestrian training resource which includes information such as understanding what traffic is, indentifying elements of a road, the importance of holding hands and the stop, look and listen technique.

This resource forms part of Transport for Buckinghamshire’s Footsteps pedestrian training programme which is delivered in more than 120 schools across the county.

Valerie Letheren, cabinet member for transportation, said: “First Steps is an excellent introduction to road safety training for the very young.

“This new resource extends the range of road safety training available in Buckinghamshire and will be useful in developing children’s road safety and traffic awareness skills, preparing them for safe independent travel in the future.”
