An event showcasing a range of road safety projects sponsored by the DfT during 2010, will take place on 21 June.

The ‘Road Safety Showcase’ is being organised by CIHT (the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation) and will take place in London. It is intended for local authority elected members and officials concerned with highways and transport safety.

The Road Safety Partnership Grant Round Two involved 16 projects led by local authorities, and three by third sector organisations. Five projects focussed on young people or new drivers, two on depositories for information, and three on reducing pedestrian casualties.

Projects featured in the Showcase will include:

• The Rural Road Safety Demonstration Project which comprised work by four county councils to improve rural road safety.

• The Inner City Safety Demonstration Project which addressed the complex road safety challenges of inner city Birmingham through a combination of route treatments, stand-alone projects and area-wide education, training and publicity activities.
