The Driverless Technology Conference 2016 has been launched with a focus on accelerating growth within the UK driverless technology industry.
Now in its second year, the event, which will be held in Milton Keynes on 22 November, will address key issues such as policy, technology and safety.
It will also explore the use of driverless technology in real-world environments and provide a strategic overview of the development required to enable driverless technology to flourish in the UK.
The rise of autonomous technology has been well documented in recent months, with today’s (16 March) budget statement set to announce that ‘platoons’ of driverless lorries will be trialled on Britain’s motorways during 2016.
Last month the Government also announced a further £20m of investment into the technology, and TRL launched a real world ‘Living Lab’ where automated vehicles can be safely developed, evaluated and integrated within the local community.
Plans have already been rolled out for trials of autonomous technology in a number of UK cities, including London. In January, the design for the Capital’s first driverless ‘pods’ (pictured) was revealed ahead of tests which will take place in Greenwich.
The conference will also include an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and solutions from across the industry. The exhibition will also host networking sessions, bringing together government officials, manufacturers and suppliers with automotive engineers and technicians.
