‘Dorset Driver’ courses are back

Dorset’s road safety team has organised more of its ‘Dorset Driver’ courses to be held over the winter months, with drivers now able to book online.

The two-hour theory sessions, which cost £5, are designed to help drivers refresh their hazard awareness and knowledge of the road. Topics covered include a Highway Code refresher, driving in the 21st Century, and adverse driving conditions.

The courses are presented by road safety professionals, usually a driving instructor, and drivers are given advice on improving observation, avoiding distractions, keeping a safe distance, driving on dual carriageways and negotiating roundabouts.

Attendees also have the option to sign up for a 90-minute, one-to-one practical driving session on local rural and urban roads.

This is a great idea and I would certainly go if such a course were run near me.
