A company that provides advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is introducing a range of products to the UK market, which are designed to make drivers aware of potential dangers.
Mobileye’s products are based on a single ‘smart’ camera housed with Mobileye’s proprietary EyeQ™ chip and Mobileye’s algorithms – easily installed on the front windshield, inside the vehicle. The result is a set of driver safety and convenience applications, all running simultaneously on a single device.
Sophisticated computer vision/machine vision algorithms are able to ‘interpret’ a scene, being captured real-time, by a video camera in order to perform a specifically defined task. Some vehicle manufacturers are now adopting this technology into their vehicles.
Mobileye’s Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system alerts a driver if they begin to unintentionally veer into another lane. It also conditions the driver to use turn signals when changing lanes.
The Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system alerts a driver up to 2.7 seconds before a collision may occur, to allow a driver to react and avoid a potential collision.
The Headway Monitoring and Warning (HMW) system provides programmable visual and audio alerts and also serves to educate the driver to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead.
The Pedestrian Collision Warning (PCW) system provides a visual and audio warning up to two seconds before a potential collision with a pedestrian or cyclist.

As I understand the law there can be nothing put onto the front windscreen that would inhibit a drivers view of the road.
We are now filling it up with sat nav. cameras and other safety equipment. There wont be much open space left for drivers to view the road ahead soon.
Oh sorry I forgot his front pointing cameras will show him a picture on his ipod – sorry.
