The motoring safety charity DriveSafe has launched an online newsletter to keep people up to date with its on-going campaign to “keep driving as safe and as pleasant as possible”.
DriveSafe chose the start of Road Safety Week (November 18-24) and the fourth anniversary of its ‘Courtesy on the Road’ campaign to launch the newsletter.
The first issue includes an exclusive interview with Bob Jones, police and crime commissioner for the West Midlands.
Fay Goodman, DriveSafe founder, said: “I hope DriveSafe News will encourage people to go the extra mile to be safe and courteous and help reduce the potential for conflict on the roads.”
Ms Goodman went on to predict “brutal winds” as a legacy of Typhoon Haiyan, followed by “snow and freezing temperatures”.
She said: “Ensuring that we have plentiful supplies of water and blankets, that our mobile phones are fully charged, and that those at home or work know our destination and chosen route will minimise the impact of any difficulties we may encounter.
“Driving sensibly and with caution also allows us more time to react and manage our vehicle should this be required.”
