World Cup celebrations could lead to an increase in drink-drive related incidents affecting employees and companies, warns the fleet and fuel management company Arval.
Tracey Scarr, Arval’s fleet and road safety manager, said: “No one wants to dampen enthusiasm for the tournament but businesses need to be mindful of staff issues around excessive consumption of alcohol and the obvious consequences for safe driving.
“There is no magic formula for working out if it is safe to drive the following morning. It can be based upon a number of factors including general health, whether food has been consumed, or even if the driver is taking any medication.
“In the euphoria of a potential England win, normally responsible staff who over-celebrate and then drive the next morning may well be putting themselves and others at risk.”
