Funding an opportunity to make ‘tangible impact’ on local road safety

Local authorities, charities and community groups are being encouraged to submit applications for the Road Safety Trust’s Small Grants Programme – ahead of the 18 October deadline.

The Road Safety Trust is the largest independent road safety grant-giver in the UK.

The Trust’s Small Grants Programme provides funding for pilots or trials, expansions of successful trials across a new area, and/or the evaluation of road safety interventions. Each project is awarded between £10k and £30k.

Each application should have a lead organisation in the UK which must be a local public sector organisation, charity, not-for-profit social enterprise, or community interest company. Universities can also apply but this must be in partnership with one of these organisations.

Strong evidence of partnership working and road safety evaluation expertise is expected in all projects.

The application process opened in September and remains open until 18 October

Sally Lines, chief executive of The Road Safety Trust, said: “The Small Grants Programme is a real opportunity for local authorities, charities and community groups to make a tangible impact on local road safety.

“Projects should have the potential for being brought to scale, with the goal of reducing deaths and injuries both locally, and across the UK.

“We welcome applications from across the UK and are looking forward to receiving a high number of quality applications from all geographical areas and different types of organisations in the public and third sectors.”
