Jesse Norman to speak at 2018 Young Driver Focus

15.32 | 5 December 2017 |

Jesse Norman MP, minister for road safety, will address delegates attending Young Driver Focus 2018, before taking part in a question and answer session.

Mr Norman will deliver the opening keynote presentation, lasting around 10 minutes – before inviting questions from the audience for a similar period of time.

Now in its fifth year, Young Driver Focus examines current and future thinking with regard to the vital issue of reducing crashes and casualties among young drivers and their passengers.

Young Driver Focus is jointly organised by FirstCar, Road Safety GB and the RAC Foundation, in association with the young driver insurer ingenie, who has been the event’s headline sponsor for the past four years.

The 2018 edition of Young Driver Focus is once again being held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall on 25 April 2018.

Jesse Norman MP took over the road safety portfolio, as well as responsibility for cycling and walking policy, in July 2017 having moved to the DfT following the General Election.

Mr Norman is also responsible for: buses; Highways England and strategic roads; local roads policy and funding; motoring agencies; road freight; transport and the environment; and transport technology.

The Young Driver Focus 2018 agenda, which is beginning to take shape, includes a session looking at the latest insights and research into young driver behaviour, an update on the new-look driving test, and a session titled ‘practitioners in action’.
