JTD continues with two virtual workshops

Following the success of the first ever hybrid conference format, Joining the Dots is offering road safety professionals the opportunity to participate in two follow-up virtual workshops.

The workshops feature content that organisers were unable to squeeze into the packed conference agenda and will lift the lid on two ‘interesting and innovative’ ways of collecting and analysing data.

They have been organised by Road Safety GB and sponsored by ACUITY – a suite of analytical products developed by Agilysis.

The first, which takes place on 3 May, will look at a recent smart cycling project, which aimed to identify cycling conditions across Birmingham and provide a wider understanding of unreported collisions.

The project known as ‘Smart Brum’ involved more than 200 cyclists across the city, and the hope was that the data they collected could be used to anticipate where and how cycling incidents may occur – before they actually happen.

The second workshop, on 11 May, will look at WeCount, a European project that enables citizens to initiate a policy-making process with fully automated measurement data in the field of mobility and air quality.

The project follows participatory citizen science methods to co-create and use innovative low cost, automated, road traffic counting sensors.

The 2022 edition of the National Analysts Conference took place on 1 March, in what was Road Safety GB’s first hybrid event.

The annual conference, known as Joining the Dots, took place at the Royal Automobile Club in London, whilst simultaneously broadcasting content to 180 participants online around the country.

It was sponsored by Jenoptik, See Sense and Agilysis.
