An arts company is working with young people aged 5-16 years to create murals to help spread the road safety message.
Manchester-based Spearfish has worked with schools and youth centres to complete16 different road safety murals around the UK, the majority of which are in road traffic ‘hot spots’.
Richard Roberts said; “We focus heavily on design and consultation, which gives us a great opportunity to discuss road safety issues and practice in a relaxed and informal manner.
“We have found that when young people are involved in the entire process, from idea generation to painting, they develop a great deal of pride in the mural and message they have created.
“We have witnessed peer-to-peer learning where young people involved in the project pass on the road safety message to their friends.”
