CCL ‘train the trainer’ course to run in Bucks and Somerset

The next two ‘train the trainer’ courses, which equip road safety teams to deliver Road Safety GB’s new client centred learning (CCL) course for ADIs, will be held in Buckinghamshire and Somerset.

In April 2014, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) introduced a new Standards Check for driving instructors. Under the new system, driving instructors are assessed on their ability to deliver a CCL approach, which looks to develop a driver’s ability to self-evaluate their own performance by using a number of educational approaches.

Working in partnership with eDriving Solutions, Road Safety GB has developed a two-day course to help driving instructors to develop these vital CCL skills. The course must be delivered by a driving instructor.

The next two ‘train the trainer’ courses will be held in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire on 15-16 October and in Taunton, Somerset on 13-14 November. Places are available on both courses and the fee is £250.

The CCL course has now been delivered twice by Durham’s road safety team and also by North Yorkshire’s team, and feedback has been extremely positive.

One of the ADIs who attended the course in Durham said a few days afterwards: "Just returned from Standards Check Test, passed with Grade A! The examiner’s first comment was, ‘I couldn’t have asked for more’. The CCL course does work!”

Contact June Howlett to book or for more information about the Buckinghamshire course, or Rina Cameron (08449 800028) about the Somerset course.
