‘Nearly all’ cyclists suffer road rage

11.02 | 8 May 2009 |

91% of cyclists have experienced some form of road rage, according to a study by a website for cycling enthusiasts.

222 people responded to the question: “Have you ever been the victim of road rage?”, on the road.cc website, with only 9% saying they have never had a problem.

61% say they have suffered occasional verbal abuse, 9% suffer regular verbal abuse and 22% have suffered worse than verbal abuse.

Tony Farrelly, road.cc editor, said: “The poll result won’t be a surprise to many cyclists for whom a certain level of abuse is a part of daily life. There is an awful lot of resentment towards cyclists out there, but then our roads are very angry places anyway.”
