New App raises road safety awareness among children

Four local authorities in Wales have come together to produce a road safety App aimed at children aged three to 11 years.

The App, PLAYING IT SAFE, has been funded by South West Wales Integrated Transport Consortium (SWWITCH) which comprises Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire councils. It is designed to help parents, guardians and teachers raise awareness of road safety practices among children.

PLAYING IT SAFE has been developed by DESQ, specialists in using media and games for learning, and App developers Redemption Media. It is free to download, bilingual (English/Welsh) and is available on both I tunes and Google play.

It comprises four interactive mini games to provide the target age groups (3-11 years) with a variety of fun games and activities.

‘Be Bright Be Seen’ involves dressing characters in the right clothes and equipment for different activities; ‘Safer Crossing’ challenges children to choose the best place to cross and wait for a safe time to cross; ‘Beat the Lights’ involves guessing the next light in a traffic light sequence; and the ‘Road Ready Quiz’ challenges the child on their road safety knowledge.

Perhaps our headline should have read:
New App is designed to raise road safety awareness among children

However, I’m sure you will appreciate that generally headlines are kept as succinct as possible.

And in the second para we go on to say:
It (the App) is designed to help parents, guardians and teachers raise awareness of road safety practices among children.

Can it be assumed that with the title of the article being “New App raises road safety awareness among children” that data has been collected and provides evidence that it has raised awareness? Could a link be placed to show the data recorded.
