Road Safety Analysis (RSA) and FirstCar Publications have joined forces to launch a new publication to help local authorities to promote cycling and active travel.
The publication, The Ultimate Guide to Cycling, is launched at a time when cycling is once again be high profile in the UK, with the first three stages of the Tour de France 2014 taking place here during early July.
RSA suggests that barriers to cycling in the public “may be around issues of safety, security, fashion, fitness, convenience and time commitment”.
The Ultimate Guide to Cycling is described as a comprehensive guide to help newcomers to “navigate the maze of information and myriad of pressures that arise when thinking about owning and maintaining a bike”, including training, cycle to work schemes, choosing routes and riding safely.
With a cover price of 75p, and discounts available for bulk orders, The Ultimate Guide to Cycling is intended to provide local authorities with a “low cost route to putting information you can trust into the hands of local residents and businesses”.
To order, or for more information, contact Dan Campsall on 01295 731810 (for authorities in South East, East of England, North West, Yorkshire and The Humber, Scotland and Wales); or James Evans on 08451 308853 (for authorities in East Midlands, South West, West Midlands, London, North East and Northern Ireland).
Interesting initiative by RSA and First Car – two credible organisations with good track records in road safety. Good luck.

This looks a good publication, such a shame is has come out just as most budgets to buy and distribute such things have been drastically reduced.
