New website reviews ‘family friendly cars’

A new website has been launched by a team of road safety professionals to help parents, carers and other family members choose a car that will best meet their family’s needs.

The Family Car website has been conceived and developed by Julie Dagnall, Judy Hall and Claire Waterhouse from Child Seat Safety, who have worked for many years with parents, carers, road safety professionals and car seat retailers and manufacturers.

The Child Seat Safety team has checked thousands of child seats over the years and found many to be incorrectly fitted or used, or incompatible with the vehicle – resulting in ‘frustrated parents who are at a loss where to get answers’.

The Family Car is described as a ‘practical review site’ where people can find out about cars they are considering buying, and whether they will work for their family.

It covers issues such as whether three child seats can fit across the back seat of the vehicle, whether a pram and shopping will fit in the boot, and if there are ‘lots of alerts on the vehicle that could wake a sleeping child’.

It also contains independent reviews on child car seats and the opportunity to book a virtual child seat check with one of Child Seat Safety’s qualified advisors.

The first reviews on the new site feature the 15 most frequently seen cars at Child Seat Safety events. The website team aims to add a couple of reviews each month, from older popular models to new cars being brought onto the market.
