The 2012 Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards scheme is now open for nominations.

Organised and managed by RoadSafe, the Prince Michael Awards recognise achievements and innovation which will improve road safety. The most outstanding examples of international road safety initiatives are given public recognition through the scheme.

In 2011, the RAC Foundation won the Premier Award for commissioning a report that ‘stopped the decommissioning of speed cameras’ and ‘saved 800 deaths or serious injuries a year on our roads’. Road Safety GB also received an award for the growing contribution that the Road Safety Knowledge Centre is making, in terms of making it possible for road safety professionals to ensure that their interventions are evidence-based.

The deadline for nominations for the 2012 awards is 6 July.
