Both the Road Safety GB website and the Road Safety Knowledge Centre received record levels of traffic during April 2015.

The Road Safety GB saw an extraordinary hike in traffic levels, as a result of a news item about the new i-Size child car seat regulations which was cascaded via various social media forums over the Easter weekend.

As a result, the site received 52,891 visits from 44,254 visitors during April 2015. The previous highs, achieved the previous month (March 2015), were 30,274 and 21,871 respectively.

The Road Safety GB site has received record levels of traffic in five of the seven months since it was revamped in October 2015.

For the Knowledge Centre, the number of visits and visitors in April 2015 were 2,892 (+20%) and 2,217 (+25%) respectively. The previous highs were 2,400 visits in January 2015, and 1,780 visitors in March 2015.

Nick Rawlings, editor of Road Safety News and a member of the Road Safety GB web & comms team, said: “The dramatic hike in traffic to the Road Safety GB site as a result of the news item about i-Size indicates a thirst for information about child car seats among parents, grand parents and others transporting children in cars – and probably some anxiety and confusion.

“The online forum we ran recently as part of Global Road Safety Week on the subject of in-car safety for children also produced many questions about which child car seats people should be using.

“The increase in use of the Road Safety Knowledge Centre is particularly pleasing. The changes we introduced last year in removing the need for people to register to use the Knowledge Centre, and making the site responsive to the device being used (smartphone, tablet, laptop etc) appear to be contributing to increased usage.”

Congratulations on the increases you have shown. Can I ask is it just because its after the slow winter period and with spring and better weather creating a new period and greater interest and involvement.
