Road Safety GB’s supportive response to the publication of The North Report on drink and drug driving was at the heart of the national debate last week, appearing on the websites of the several national newspapers and the BBC.
James Gibson, Road Safety GB press & PR officer also appeared to discuss the report on BBC News 24 and a series of regional BBC radio stations.
The report recommends that the government should lower the legal drink-drive limit from the current 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg. It also recommends that the 12-month driving ban – automatic for those who exceed the current limit – should be maintained for the new 50mg limit.
Road Safety GB welcomed the report as a major milestone in the war on road casualties, and comments by Alan Kennedy, chair, featured prominently in The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Times and on the BBC News website.
