The Road Safety GB Academy has unveiled five new training courses developed in partnership with Road Safety Analysis.

The courses will be piloted over the coming months, initially to Road Safety GB & Academy members only at the special fee of £50 plus VAT.

The Road Safety GB Academy provides practitioners with support and guidance to develop and enhance the right tools and skills to deliver effective, evidence-led road safety interventions.

Training courses already provided by The Academy include the Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course, a one-day Behavioural Change Course and a Client Centre Learning (CCL) Course for ADIs.

The five new courses cover road safety data, evaluation, media, social media and social marketing.

The two-day Road Safety Data Course provides an introduction to STATS19 and other data sources, including an overview of trend analysis, spatial analysis and socio-demographic analysis.

The Evaluation Course (also two-days) covers issues relating to evaluating road safety campaigns. By the end of the course candidates should be equipped to plan and pilot an evaluation.

The two-day Media Course course provides an overview of the media landscape including the role of PR and media management, while looking at writing for news, press releases and how best to prepare for live interview scenarios.

The Social Media Course provides an introduction to social media, looking at how to be successful on a number of platforms including Facebook and Twitter. The two-day course will also equip candidates to design a social media strategy for road safety communications.

The four-day Social Marketing Course covers social media definitions and history and the principles of marketing theory, and examines how theory informs practice. By the end of the course candidates should be able to plan, implement and evaluate a social media campaign.
