With the school year beginning to draw to a close, the THINK! team is asking road safety officers to help promote the child road safety competition it has developed in partnership with the RAC and the animators Aardman.
The national competition challenges children to create short animated films to communicate road safety messages to fellow pupils.
The competition is fronted by a new canine road safety mascot named Horace, created by Aardman Animations who are best known for the Wallace and Gromit series.
The competition is open to all primary, junior and secondary schools in Great Britain – as well as clubs, Scouts, Brownies and other groups.
First prize in each age category is £1,000 for the winning school and there are three runners-up prizes of an Aardman model-making workshop. The first 10,000 entries will receive a RAC road safety kit worth £15.
Vikkie Judd, THINK! team campaign manager, said: “As the summer term draws to an end and schools have more time for fun activities, we’d like RSOs to help by encouraging schools to enter this exciting competition.
“RSOs can help schools identify road safety issues in their community that might form the basis of their entry – and then help them develop their entry, possibly using the THINK! educational resources."
