School crossing patrol staff from across County Durham have successfully completed an NVQ training course.

The 26 members of staff, from Durham County Council’s road safety team, have all gained a level 2 NVQ qualification in customer services.  They were presented with certificates at an event at County Hall, on Friday (July 6).

Representatives from Bishop Auckland College, which has been working with the council on this project, were there and college principal Anne Isherwood presented the certificates.

Alan Kennedy, Road Safety Manager at Durham County Council, said: “We are very proud of the 26 patrols who have completed this training and very proud of the job they and their colleagues do every day.  This has been a successful partnership with Bishop Auckland College and we are delighted with the outcome.”
